Baptisms

Baptism is one of the two sacraments recognised by the Church of Scotland (sacraments are formal religious ceremonies conferring a specific grace on those who receive them), the other being the Sacrament of Holy Communion.
In the case of infant baptism the Church of Scotland expects at least one parent or close family member to be or become a member of the church - although we will always talk to you about your specific circumstances. In the baptismal service, those appropriate adults profess their own faith and promise to give the child a Christian upbringing. In the case of adult baptism the person himself or herself makes the appropriate promises.
We warmly welcomes enquiries regarding infant or adult Baptism. The Service will take place within the church service on a Sunday morning - normally the 1st Sunday of the month. There is a place at Downfield South for God Parents to be included in the service. For further information please contact us, via the contact us page on the website.
